Investment Methodology

The management team at the ALDER strongly believes that there is no substitute for careful and exhaustive analysis of investment opportunities. Therefore, upon identifying an investment opportunity that meets our criteria whether real property or in the venture/seed investment arena, the members of the investment team will undertake an extensive review of the prospective asset. This review always includes both quantitative and qualitative analysis of the existing addressable market(s) and the investment opportunity.

We believe that the following factors make our funds an attractive investment opportunity for accredited investors and high net-worth individuals:

Access to Attractive Opportunities: The numerous and varied relationships of our leadership team and partners, with access to regional and community financial institutions, real property brokerage community,  emerging businesses, investment firms, and the seed and venture community, provides ALDER with copious and strong deal flow.

Diligence Process: When considering assets and/or companies for investment, we approach with both enthusiasm and pragmatism. We look beyond the claims of profits, returns, and exit multiples: we invest in opportunities which reflect our values and methodology as investors. We always consider opportunities through the lens of our long-term goals and outlook for our investor base. We carefully evaluate opportunities and gauge addressable market opportunities and compelling differentiation as part of our due diligence. When making seed and venture placements, we seek companies that have already differentiated themselves from the herd by their innovation, defensible intellectual property, and strong go-to-market execution.

After we invest our time and energy into fully vetting an investment opportunity,  we make a committee-based decision on whether to proceed with an investment, even pulling in subject matter experts from our network as needed to provide a complete analysis of the prospect. Once terms are agreed upon, we collaborate on the term sheet, which includes our level of responsibility, engagement, and investment, and possibly exit terms/scenarios.

Experienced Team: Our management team has extensive experience in private equity investing, real estate investing, and financial transactions and modeling. Each individual brings their own experience and professional network to complement the organization. Our team has strong ties to experts in various fields which lends vital support to our mission to maximize returns to our investors, while providing valuable guidance to growth-stage companies.
